Where do the modem strings go?

Windows 95 / 98 / 98SE / ME / NT4.0.

1. Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel.
2. Double click the Modem icon.
3. Highlight your modem and click the Properties button.
4. Click on the Connection file-folder tab.
5. Click the Advanced... button.
6. Where it says Extra Settings. Enter your string in that field.
7. Click all the OK and Close buttons, until there are none and close out of Control Panel.
8. Restart the computer.

Windows XP and 2000.

1. Click on the Start button.
2. Click on Control Panel.
   In the Control Panel along the left-side, if it says Switch to Classic View. Click it.
3. Double click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
4. Select the Modems file-folder tab.
5. Highlight your modem and click the Properties button.
6. Click on the Advance file-folder tab.
7. Where it says Extra Initialization Commands. Enter your string in that field.
8. Click all the OK buttons, until there are none and close out of Control Panel.
9. Restart the computer.
