Where do the modem strings go?
Windows 95 / 98 / 98SE / ME / NT4.0.
- Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel.
- Double click the Modem icon.
- Highlight your modem and click the Properties button.
- Click on the Connection file-folder tab.
- Click the Advanced... button.
- Where it says Extra Settings. Enter your string in that field.
- Click all the OK and Close buttons, until there are none and close out of Control Panel.
- Restart the computer.
Windows XP and 2000.
- Click on the Start button.
- Click on Control Panel.
In the Control Panel along the left-side, if it says Switch to Classic View. Click it.
- Double click the Phone and Modem Options icon.
- Select the Modems file-folder tab.
- Highlight your modem and click the Properties button.
- Click on the Advance file-folder tab.
- Where it says Extra Initialization Commands. Enter your string in that field.
- Click all the OK buttons, until there are none and close out of Control Panel.
- Restart the computer.
